Yoga Nidra is a deep relaxation practice in which we use ancient yoga techniques to counteract stress by inviting the body to relax deeply and the mind to rest. The practice is both nourishing to the mind and soothing to the nervous system, and can be profoundly healing at a physical, mental and emotional level.
In this class we try to remain in a comfortable and restful yet alert state throughout, using deep meditation on sensations, breath, thoughts and emotions as flows of energy in the body as a way of accessing our innate natural wisdom. We work through a variety of tools developed by the ancient yogis thousands of years ago and some adapted in more recent years, to become deeply relaxed in the state of yoga nidra, sometimes referred to as “yogic sleep”.
